NUPRC Permit Consultant in Nigeria (OGISP)
Lifehampers helps oilfield service companies obtain and renew the NUPRC Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit (OGISP), the annual permit required to provide services in Nigeria's upstream petroleum sector.

Understanding the OGISP Permit
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), which took over the upstream role of the former Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), regulates upstream oil and gas in Nigeria. Service companies need an Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit, applied for through the Commission's OGISP portal in one of three categories:
General
For general and minor supplies and services. General and Major applications are typically processed within about three working days of payment confirmation.
Major
For larger or more technical services and supplies, with higher statutory fees than the General category and more detailed documentation.
Specialized
For highly specialised technical services. Fees are higher, processing can take longer, and some services, such as rigs, need NUPRC accreditation before the permit is approved.
Typical Documents Needed
CAC certificate of incorporation and company records (such as CAC forms or a status report), memorandum and articles, tax clearance and a list of equipment, plus documents specific to your category.
Renew Every Year
The permit is valid for one year from approval and must be renewed annually through the same portal. Letting it lapse can lock you out of tenders and NIPEX.
Questions people often ask
Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.
What is the OGISP?
The Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit issued by NUPRC to companies providing services in Nigeria's upstream oil and gas industry. It is applied for and renewed online.
Which category do I need?
It depends on the services you will provide. General covers minor supplies and services, Major covers larger and more technical services, and Specialized covers highly technical services. Choosing the right category and service list matters.
How long is the permit valid?
One year from the date of approval. It must be renewed annually.
Is NUPRC the same as DPR?
NUPRC took over DPR's upstream regulatory role under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. Midstream and downstream activities are regulated separately by the NMDPRA.
Do I need an NUPRC permit for NIPEX?
Companies offering upstream services are usually expected to hold a valid NUPRC permit when registering on NIPEX and bidding for work. See our NIPEX registration service.
